2013 Summer Sports Camps

Whether your sport involves a ball, a racket, a stick or a splash, Presentation High School's summer Sports Camps have something to offer you! Spend your summer in the sunshine at Presentation's beautiful athletic complex, where you'll learn new skills (or improve the ones you already have!) and have a ton of fun!  We have something for everyone.

Basketball (Girls only)

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball with individual and team skill development. Ball handling, shooting, footwork, defense and passing are some skills that will be covered. Proper basketball attire is required.

Diving Lessons (Boys and Girls)

This program is for those swimmers who are just starting out or want more experience in diving. No diving experience is necessary.
Ages 5 and up | June 11-August 1, 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m., $250
(8 weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Note:  Divers may drop-in for just one day for $25.  You can reserve a day by completing the print registration form and paying in person at the Pool office.

Field Hockey (Boys and Girls)

This camp focuses on strengthening the foundation of athletes at all levels. We welcome beginners as well as elite players. Each athlete is observed, evaluated and placed in an appropriate group based on their skill level and experience. Training focuses on developing techniques to execute basic skills, understanding the concepts of the game and employing team strategies. Beginners focus on technique and developing their game sense while experienced players are exposed to advanced strategies and tactics while polishing their technical skills. If players have their own equipment (field hockey stick, shin guards, cleats) they are encouraged to bring those to camp.

Soccer (Boys and Girls)

This camp will provide a positive learning environment in which each player can develop the confidence and motivation needed to reach their potential. Personalized instruction will be offered in every phase of soccer, with special emphasis placed on technique. The goal is to not only teach soccer skills but to develop a passion for the game. Campers will be challenged while having fun in a competitive environment. All levels of experience welcome.

Softball (Girls only)

This camp focuses on fundamentals and mechanics for any level of fast-pitch softball experience. Each camper will receive as much one-on-one attention as possible. If players have their own glove, bat, helmet and sliding pads they are encouraged to bring them to camp. Walk-ins are welcome.

Swimming Camps, Grades 1-9 (Boys and Girls)

All swim campers should be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing and backstroke on their back BEFORE enrolling in camp.  They should also be comfortable in deep water (7-13' deep.)  Swimmers are grouped according to their ability level, ranging from beginners through experienced swim team members. Camps will cover stroke mechanics, team building, dry-land training, race strategy and an introduction to springboard diving and water polo.

Tennis (girls only)

This camp prepares players for high school competition in singles and doubles. Emphasis will be on technique, footwork, court positioning, strategies and stroke selection. Campers will be assessed on their all-court conditioning and tennis skill levels. Every player will receive a complete analysis of their tennis strengths and weaknesses, and drills and games will be conducted according to their skill level. Improvement programs for each player will be developed and practiced with emphasis on achievable goals for the next school year. During the camp extensive use will be made of video, ball machines, and other teaching aids to provide the best possible learning experience. This camp will be held off-campus at Wallenberg Park (Curtner Avenue and Cherry Avenue).

Volleyball (girls only)

This camp provides a structured learning environment to develop athletes into strong volleyball players while teaching them passion for playing and having fun. Camps will teach all pertinent volleyball skills: serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking and game play. Camps are designed for all skill levels. Campers will be evaluated and placed in a group that challenges their level of play.

Water Lovers Camp - Ages 5 and up (Girls only)

These camps provide the ultimate swimming experience as campers take on not only speed swimming, springboard diving, water polo and synchronized swimming.  All swim campers should be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing and backstroke on their back BEFORE enrolling in camp.  They should also be comfortable in deep water (7-13' deep.)  Swimmers are grouped according to their ability level, ranging from beginners through experienced swim team members .

Water Polo - Grades 6-12 (Boys and Girls)

No experience is necessary. Recommended for stronger swimmers who are able to swim for extended periods of time and be comfortable in deep water. This is a more in-depth camp focusing on the fundamentals of water polo (passing, shooting, swimming, defensive position). This camp will cover more of the positioning, setting up of the offense, and game play skills. Front court offense and defense will be emphasized as well as the use of counter attack, goalie techniques, and shooting skills.

Water Polo - Grades 1-5 (Boys and Girls)

No experience is necessary. Participant must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke, as well as be comfortable in deep water. The basics of water polo strokes, passing techniques, and beginning game play will be covered. Starting with eggbeater techniques, campers will learn to be more comfortable in the deep end while learning the basics of passing and shooting. Fun drills and mini-scrimmages will aid in learning about the game
