Community Involvement

Community Involvement strives to fulfill a vital part of the Presentation High School philosophy: "To enable each student to integrate the acquisition of human knowledge and skills with her growing experience of life in the world and her total development as a person."

At the heart of the Community Involvement Program is the volunteer work its members provide each week through off-campus agencies. Students choose organizations such as a local soup kitchen, a home for senior citizens, Good Samaritan Hospital, or a tutoring program for underprivileged children, committing to work there once a week for the duration of the semester or school year. Beyond that, there are monthly meetings focused on justice education and reflection on service work.

CI also sponsors the annual holiday drives in the fall, which collect food, money and toys for Sacred Heart Community Service, and the annual Mission Drive in the spring, which raises money to support the Sisters of the Presentation serving in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Other activities include school-wide awareness days, Urban Plunge and Rural Plunge weekend trips, a homeless solidarity immersion experience, and a solidarity immersion trip in the United States or abroad.
