Panther Pathways: Middle School Programs

Presentation’s ASB officers invite 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join them for our Leadership Workshop. This is a fun opportunity to develop your leadership potential and build skills that will benefit you in school and in life! Workshop lessons include topics such as: communication, public speaking, team building, and facilitative leadership. 

The workshops will be on the following Wednesdays from 3:30–5:00 p.m.

We are excited to offer our Speech and Debate programming for 7th and 8th grade students. Our program maximizes the experience and leadership skills of our talented student team members as they lead workshops for middle school students to learn speech and debate events.

Our programmatic goals for students participating in workshops are:

• Build confidence speaking in public and/or in front of an audience
• Facilitate a space for students to learn and practice select National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) speech and debate events
• Prepare your student for live competition in one or more events

Workshops for students are held on Wednesdays from 4-5:30pm. Students should be dropped off, or arrive no earlier than, 3:45 and arrange exit from campus no later than 5:45. Practices will be held on the following days:

All students will receive a certification of completion at the end of the academic year. Students who complete the majority of workshops each semester will also receive entry fee/registration waiver for up to two event entries at the Bay Area Middle School Championship tournament hosted by Presentation Speech and Debate typically held in April (2024).

 The French workshop is intended to give young women in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade an introduction to the French language and culture through songs and games. Participants will learn:

• Where French is spoken and the culture of those countries
• How to greet someone and make introductions
• Songs and games in French and much more!

Workshop Dates:

Every Wednesday January 17th-March 27th from 3:40-5:00 p.m.

*No class Feb 14 or 21.

Participants must complete this permission slip and bring it with them on the first day of the workshop.

Join the most highly awarded dance program in the area for six comprehensive dance workshop! During the workshop students will learn a dance combo and have a chance to perform at our spring show. This workshop is open to 6th through 8th grade.

This opportunity requires 6 meetings, as listed below. Students will have 4 regular rehearsals, one dress rehearsal, and one formal concert experience with the Presentation High School Choirs on May 9th in Valenzuela Theater.

The workshop dates will be:

April 23rd from 4pm-5:30 p.m.
April 25th from 4pm-5:30 p.m.
April 30th from 4pm-5:30 p.m.
May 2nd from 4pm-5:30 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal May 8th from 5:30-7 p.m.
Performance May 9th at 7:00 p.m (call time 5:30 p.m.)

Students will learn 2-4 pieces of choral repertoire to perform at the PHS Spring Choir Concert. The workshop will be an introduction to basic vocal technique, choral singing skills, musical tools such as solfege and rhythm syllables, and performance etiquette.
