PHS gym gets new name to honor longtime principal

Presentation High School kicked off the 50th anniversary school year Monday with a special liturgy that ended with a surprise honor for longtime principal Mary Miller - her name on the gymnasium.
"I believe it is very fitting that we honor Mary here in this gymnasium, which is not just a place for athletics, but the place where the school community gathers for worship, for tradition, for meetings, for celebration," said Sr. Stephanie Still, president of the Sisters of the Presentation, before announcing the building's new name, the Miller Athletic Complex. "In a very real way, the heart of the school community beats in this building. And so we honor Ms. Miller, who is also at the heart of this school community, by naming this building in her honor."
Mary Miller, herself a Presentation alum who graduated in 1972, has been a faculty member for 35 years and became principal in 1993.
