Swim to Remember a success

The pool at Presentation High School was dotted with pink swim caps Thursday as more than 100 swimmers gathered to raise money for breast cancer awareness at the 7th annual Swim to Remember swim-a-thon.
Swim to Remember is held in honor of Claire Buchser, who was a beloved math teacher at Presentation for more than 25 years. Buchser succumbed to cancer in 2005. A total of 17,522 laps were logged by 128 swimmers, resulting in 265.48 miles of swimming.
This year’s proceeds will be given to Breast Cancer Connections of Palo Alto and the Claire Buchser Memorial Scholarship Award.
"Our event was blessed with sunny skies, fabulous volunteers and so many dedicated swimmers," said PHS swimming coach Marisa Cozort. "The local businesses stepped up with fantastic raffle prizes and food. And so far we've had over $3,500 turned in and look forward to compiling the total tally of donations next week."
