FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 21, 2020 (San Jose, CA) – Presentation High School today named Sierra Maestas ’15 the new head coach of the Presentation Swim and Dive Program. She also joins the Presentation faculty as a full-time in-house substitute teacher.
Coach Maestas attended Auburn University where she completed her B.S. and M.S. in Physical Education while competing on the club swim team. She was a part of Auburn’s nationally ranked club relay team and found time to coach for the Opelika Swim Team under Olympic gold medalist, Tyler McGill.
A proud Pres alumna, Coach Maestas formerly competed for the Presentation Swim and Dive team, and found time during her academic and athletic schedule to begin her coaching career in 2013 for the Covington Swim Team in Los Altos. While she primarily focused on her strokes in the water, she also competed for Presentation’s golf program and is a fierce proponent of multi-sport athletes in high school.
Coach Maestas is excited to be back on campus and be involved with a school that influenced her so much. “I hope that as both a Presentation alumna and former student-athlete, I can provide an environment that nurtures the development of fearless women who strive to continually learn and grow; both in and out of the pool,” Coach Maestas said. “It is my goal to develop a program that is safe, competitive and reflects the vision and mission of Presentation High School. I look forward to mentoring the student-athletes who represent Presentation in the pool, in the classroom and in our community.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Maestas back to campus,” said Athletic Director Kevin Saldivar. “Sierra’s passion and enthusiasm for educating young women is evident and we look forward to seeing the effect she will have on our student-athletes and the Swim and Dive program. She has a clear vision for the program and understanding of how to support our Presentation student-athletes to help them be successful athletically and academically.”
