From the Board Chair

September 8, 2021

Dear Presentation Community,

I am honored to serve as the Chair of Presentation High School's Board of Directors and look forward to an exciting year ahead. As the proud father of an alumna from the Class of 2012, I recognize the importance of Presentation’s mission to inspire and empower young women to achieve their personal best in all areas of academics and co-curricular activities.

The Board of Directors is committed to partnering with the Sisters who have entrusted us to uphold our Catholic, all-girls mission and safeguard our students as we fulfill our responsibilities to formulate policy, provide fiduciary oversight, guide long-term sustainability and strategic planning, along with ensuring institutional integrity and legal compliance.

To start the year, we gathered for a Board retreat to pray and explore the importance of ethical decision-making in the context of our unique mission. We also took time to deepen our understanding of the Presentation mission and charism through the lens of Nano Nagle’s legacy. These generative conversations confirmed that we are called to serve as Presentation People who embody Nano, and also clarified how we will move forward as a unified Board and support our entire community.

21-22 Priorities

  1. Strategic Planning: Lead an efficient and inclusive process to cast a bold vision for the future
  2. Strengthen & Heal Our Community: Support healing, raise awareness of the mission and vision and forge new partnerships
  3. Leadership: Support the President in her efforts to lead the school in collaboration with the Principal and their leadership teams
  4. Stewardship & Care: Deepen our understanding of our mission and charism and the best practices for school governance and community support
  5. Board Membership: Identify a diverse slate of qualified candidates to join the Board and committees to ensure broad representation in the voices around the table going forward

We also realize that Presentation is undergoing a tremendous amount of change as our community continues to heal and as we respond to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a new Board, we learned a great deal from the external investigation and throughout the last year. Together with Holly, Katherine and their leadership teams, we are committed to further growth as we dedicate ourselves to strengthening our culture and promoting healing, protecting the health and safety of our students - past, present, and future - and ensuring mistakes are not repeated.

Nano’s last words to the small group of sisters with her when she died were, “Love one another as you have hitherto done. Spend yourselves for the poor.” On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we are humbled by this charge and honored to ensure it continues to be lived at Presentation High School.

In Partnership,
