Pres Names Jekara Wilson Head Volleyball Coach

August 9, 2019 (San Jose, CA) – Presentation High School is happy to announce that Jekara Wilson will be taking over as the new head coach of the Presentation Volleyball Program.

Coach Wilson brings a great deal of knowledge and coaching experience to the Volleyball Program at Presentation High School. Prior to coaching at Presentation, Coach Wilson was the head JV and Varsity Volleyball head coach at Palo Alto High School. During her time as part of the coaching staff at Palo Alto High School, the Varsity team won consecutive State Championships under her mentor and head coach Dave Winn. While coaching at the JV level, Coach Wilson's teams always enjoyed much success by consistently finishing at the top of their league each season. After nine years of coaching at the JV level, Coach Wilson took over the varsity program at Palo Alto. In two seasons, she was able to lead her team to the Central Coast Section (CCS) Division I Finals and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division 1 Nor Cal playoffs. It was during this successful 2017 season that Coach Wilson received Coach of the Year honors in the De Anza League.

As a Palo Alto native Coach Wilson attended and played volleyball at Palo Alto High School. During her playing career she helped her teams make it to the CCS and CIF Nor Cal playoffs while playing in the finals of each tournament her junior year. Coach Wilson continued her playing career at West Valley College where her team finished in the Final Four in the CCCAA division in her freshman year. For the past two years she has been dedicated to Palo Alto Volleyball Club serving as the club's Head Director and Head Coach.

Coach Wilson is excited to begin this fall and pass on her volleyball knowledge to the student-athletes at Presentation. "I am very excited to be named the head coach of the Presentation Volleyball Program" said Coach Wilson. "Growing up in the Bay Area I have had the privilege to not only play against Presentation teams but to coach against Presentation teams, and I have always admired the talent, competitiveness and history of success that the program has been able to sustain."

"Presentation is beyond excited to welcome Coach Wilson to the volleyball program," said Athletic Director Stacey Mallison. "I am looking forward to having Coach Wilson build upon the success of our winning tradition but to also continue our mission of empowering our student-athletes beyond their sport. This fall will be fun and exciting as the volleyball program will strive to reach their goals and create their own history under the tenure of Coach Wilson."
