It's a great day to be a Panther!
Nearly half of all Presentation students participate in our athletics program, which has a rich tradition of excellence in the competitive West Catholic Athletic League. The Panthers have collected numerous WCAL and Central Coast Section championships. Presentation's exceptional program has produced Olympians, college stars and top-notch professional coaches. We are proud to be part of this school's dedication to teaching young women about leadership, initiative, self-discipline and teamwork.
Junior Gianna Mendoza has been named to the All NorCal Third Team for the 2019 XC season. The All NorCal Teams are selected by a committee of coaches and a staff writer from the Northern California Sections (Central Coast Section, North Coast Section, Sac-Joaquin Section, Oakland Section, San Francisco Section, and Northern Section) and honors the best runners from Northern California each season.

The Presentation Panthers completed their season at the 32nd Annual California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Meet at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA. Coming off of a narrow third place finish at the Central Coast Section (CCS) Finals, the Panthers competed in arguably the toughest division of the meet (Division II) with six of the Top-10 ranked teams in the state (including 1 nationally ranked team) toeing the starting line.
Over the weekend our volleyball team traveled down to Santiago Canyon College in Orange, CA to take on Ontario Christian in the CIF Division III State Championship. Our Panthers were looking to win back-to-back CIF Championships for the first time in school history. The first set went to the Panthers 25-21 but Ontario Christian fought hard and defeated the Panthers in 4 sets. Our Panthers finish the season strong and are one of the top 12 volleyball teams in the state of CA!! Great season Panthers!
After two weeks of smoke, the Presentation Panthers XC team finally had their chance to compete at Central Coast Section Finals and they made the most of it by finishing third, just 1 point behind second place Willow Glen, claiming the final qualifying spot to the California Interscholastic Federation State Meet in Division II. This marks the first time since 1992 that the Panthers will make back-to-back team appearances at the CIF State Meet.
Just how close was the race? At the halfway point of the race, the team scores for the top six teams were: St. Francis 83, Lynbrook 95, Leland 120, Presentation 128, Willow Glen 131, and Woodside 134. Using a strong and consistent second half of the race, the Panthers moved up through the field to secure the final spot to the Big Show in Fresno showing great poise.
Junior Gianna Mendoza led the Panthers with her second place overall finish to claim individual honors and the third fastest time of the day. Sophomore Zoe Hartfield moved past four individuals in the second half to finish as the second Panther and 17thoverall in the race while Junior Hadley Dixon-Berger (competing in her first CCS Final) passed 8 runners in the second half to finish 34thoverall. Seniors Alexandra Lazar (35th), Bianca Mantovani (37th), Audrey James (43rd), and Gabriella Escobar (46th) would round out the Panthers' remaining competitors.
The Panthers race next on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA. Come out and support them if you can.

The Panthers entered Tuesday night looking to claim back-to-back CIF NorCal Regional Titles and advance to the CIF State Championship game, this time in Division III. Our Panthers faced a very tough Head-Royce team who was looking to spoil the Panther's plans. The match went to 5 sets with the Panthers coming out victorious in the 5th set, 15-8. They advance to the CIF State Championship game this Saturday at 1:30 pm at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, CA where they will face the winner of the SoCal Regional, Ontario Christian. The Panthers entered the final West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) meet of the year with league title hopes in the Varsity and JV division. Led by junior, Gianna Mendoza, who finished first overall with a time of 18:08.8, the Varsity Panthers finished first in the final WCAL meet and shared the WCAL League Championship with St. Francis. Aly Lazar (19:53.0) and Zoe Hartfield (19:56.9) finished 7th and 8th to put three Panthers in the top 10. Our Panthers win back-to-back WCAL Championships and look to carry this momentum into the CCS Championships on November 10th at Crystal Springs.
Not to be outdone, our JV Panthers won each of the three WCAL meets and win the league crown. With four runners in the top 10, our Panthers would not be denied. The Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation announced the recipients of the 2018-2019 Fall Season Scholastic Championship Team Awards. Pres Field Hockey team placed in the top 5, coming in 4th place with a collective GPA of 3.6857. These awards, instituted by the CCS Board of Managers in 1985, recognize the top five Varsity teams, from each Central Coast Section sport, with the highest collective Grade Point Average of all teams competing in that sport during that season of competition. The student-athletes involved have achieved distinction in the classroom, and at the same time, have committed themselves to participation in interscholastic athletics. Their academic performance is yet another indication that such athletic participation enhances classroom activities.
