Swim to Remember
Dozens of Presentation students, parents, faculty, alumnae and friends swim tens of thousands of laps during this annual, all-day swim-a-thon.
The event honors the memory of beloved faculty member Claire Buchser by raising money for breast cancer research. Each year, members of the Presentation community ask their families, friends, neighbors and colleagues to sponsor a number of laps. Proceeds benefit the Claire Buchser Memorial Scholarship and Bay Area Cancer Connections, a non-profit resource center for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer.
For decades, Claire Buchser was a dynamic presence on the Presentation campus. In addition to her years as a math teacher, department chair and class counselor, Claire spent many years coordinating the school's work scholarship program. Despite her battle with breast cancer, Claire maintained an indomitable sense of dignity and strength that was palpable to all who knew her. Though she succumbed to breast cancer in 2005, her legacy lives on through this event and the scholarship that bears her name.
