Michael is passionate about Catholic education and excited to help lead Presentation High School to the next level. His professional career includes a rich mixture of non-profit, for-profit, education, and public service. This broad blend of professional experience, combined with strong personal ties to Pres, positions him well for the CFOO position at Presentation High School.

Since 2013, Michael has served as a middle school math teacher at St. Simon Parish School, during which time he led the evaluation and selection of a new mathematics curriculum. St. Simon is his family’s parish, and Michael has also served as chair of the parish facilities and finance committees and the school’s technology committee. During his time at St. Simon’s, the parish ran a capital campaign to support a STEM building for the school. Michael oversaw the design and construction of this project, which opened in November 2022.

Before St. Simon, Michael had a successful career in healthcare at companies of various sizes and business stages, serving in C-level and senior finance and operations roles. In these positions, he worked with leadership teams, boards, employees, and investors to raise funding, draw in investors, promote efficient product development and production, and ensure financial stability to grow the organizations he served.

Michael’s early career includes service in the Peace Corps, where he taught math and trained volunteers in the Central African Republic. He also worked as a financial analyst in Washington, DC, providing support for programs in Africa and Central America, and he served as a policy analyst for then Santa Clara County Supervisor Zoe Lofgren. Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Stanford and his MBA from UCLA Anderson.

Michael and his wife, Katie Ryan ’84 Boennighausen, live in Los Altos, where they raised their three sons. Their boys attended St. Simon School and graduated from Bellarmine. Michael and Katie believe deeply in Catholic education and are committed to sharing their gifts and talents to help the schools they love thrive.
