Health Office Reminders
Cold and Flu season is among us.
A few reminders about attendance and general health:
- If your student is staying home sick, please include specific symptoms.
- If your student is complaining of any common cold/flu symptoms, including but not limited to: “not feeling well”, sore throat, headache, nausea, congestion, etc., please take their temperature and test them for COVID before sending them to school. Many times, students have come to school only to be sent home later in the day.
- It is in the best interest of their personal safety and the safety of the community if symptomatic students stay home until they are fever free without medication for 24 hours (this is a county guideline) before returning to school.
- If your student has tested positive for COVID, please clearly state that they have COVID and be specific about the date that they tested positive. The COVID Liaison will send follow up information regarding returning to school. We use this information to communicate with your student’s counselor to accommodate missed work during their isolation period.
- You do not need to call every day during the isolation period. However, if they are absent past the isolation period, please call the Attendance Office before 8:00am.
- As a reminder, the Health Office keeps over-the-counter medications as a courtesy. Please encourage your student to carry their own pain relievers or cough drops in their backpack.
- Magnus Health reminders: Magnus Health sends automated reminders of when requirements are due, particularly the annual physical exam. We require the exam from each student, regardless if they are participating in athletics or not. We understand that insurance will only cover an exam after 365 days from the previous exam. The Magnus Health system reminders begin 30 days prior to the expiration date of the current exam. This is to provide you enough time to contact your primary care physician for an appointment. Please do not ignore these reminders. Expired exams could impact your students in-person attendance or participation in school activities.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping our community safe and healthy.
