Teamship: Design for Impact
Work is changing. Artificial intelligence is transforming jobs across every industry, and employers are no longer just looking for what you know — they are looking for how you work with others. Today’s economy demands a new kind of preparation: the ability to collaborate, think critically, and solve complex, real-world problems as part of a team.
What is Teamship?
In Teamship, students work in small teams of three to four to tackle authentic challenges from real businesses and organizations committed to doing good in the world. There are no case studies and no hypotheticals. The work is real, the stakes are real, and the learning is hands-on.
Students will apply Teamship principles — shared leadership, trust, accountability, and purpose — to deliver solutions for mission-driven organizations while building the uniquely human skills AI can’t replace. Along the way, students will explore how businesses can balance profit and purpose, strengthen communities, and create positive social impact.
This course prepares students for the modern economy by developing the collaboration, communication, and ethical leadership skills that colleges, employers, and communities are actively seeking. Students leave with a real project they can reference in interviews and applications.
Teamship will be offered in Summer, Fall, and Spring.

Engineering & Design: Project Invent
Our co-curricular program that empowers students to become inventors for social good. Through hands-on, real-world problem solving, students work in teams to design innovative technologies that address meaningful challenges faced by members of their local community. Guided by mentors and educators, students gain experience in engineering, design thinking, and entrepreneurship—all while learning to lead with empathy.
What is Project Invent?
This is a project based class that introduces students to the engineering design process and different areas of engineering. Most of the grade is assessed on project completion as well as journaling the design process. Students will be introduced to: Computer Engineering and basic programming, Electrical engineering with soldering and microprocessors, and 3D printing. Second semester is a semester-long project working with a community partner to design a device to better their life. Students must present at Presentation High School’s Demo day or Project Invent’s Demo day.

Financial Math
Financial Math is an algebra-based, mathematical modeling course that will solve applications that occur in everyday financial life.

The course will address college preparatory mathematics within the areas of time value of money, consumer credit, employment and income taxes, budgeting, automobile and home ownership, investing and retirement and modeling a business. This course will offer opportunities for students to interpret financial situations through algebraic, graphical, and geometric representations. The course allows students to experience the interrelatedness of mathematical topics, find patterns, make conjectures, and extrapolate from known situations to unknown situations.
The mathematics topics contained in this course are introduced, developed, and applied in an as-needed format in the financial settings covered. Students are encouraged to use a variety of problem-solving skills and strategies in real-world contexts, and to question outcomes using mathematical analysis and data to support their findings. The course offers students multiple opportunities to use, construct, question, model, and interpret financial situations through symbolic algebraic representations, graphical representations, geometric representations, and verbal representations. It provides students a context for understanding and applying the mathematics they need for their current and future financial literacy, and is therefore aligned with the recommendations of the Common Core State Standards.
