Contest Guidelines:

  1. You may either create scriptural Christmas images or you may create contemporary images that show the meaning of Christmas.
    • Examples of scriptural Christmas images: Baby Jesus held by Mary & Joseph, the manger, Bethlehem, star, shepherds, angels
    • Examples of contemporary images (that show the Christmas spirit being lived out in today’s world): a soup kitchen worker serving food to a homeless person, a person comforting a depressed friend, a family in a refugee camp.
  2. The image for the cover of the Christmas card should relate to the following themes or messages:
    • Scripture Verse: Isaiah 40:1  “Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God. “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem…”  (note: this prophetic message gave hope to desperate people who were waiting for years and years to see the coming of Jesus, Messiah)
    • The comfort the world needs during difficult times comes from the light of Christ whose birth we celebrate at Christmas.
    • The promise embedded in the mystery of the birth of Christ comes to life in each of us as we share Christ’s light and love with others. Just as Mary & Joseph comforted baby Jesus, we comfort other people.
  3. Words and phrases: You may choose to include a word or phrase from the scripture verse on the cover or else you may choose to have no words on the cover.  You may recommend words or phrases to include inside the card; however, your contest entry will only be judged by your cover design. The Presentation Sisters will create the inside of the card later, using sentences similar to word.

Thank you for your participation in this Christmas card contest!
