DEEDS Program

The DEEDS program at Presentation is designed to prepare students for the future with essential job readiness skills and opportunities to discover their interests and passions for college and beyond. From resume development to on-campus internships, students will learn administration, communication and organization skills.

This program will empower students with leadership skills, turning their knowledge into action. They’ll gain real-world experience and build lifelong skills, setting students up for success in their future career.

Program Highlights

Skill Development Workshops

These monthly workshops will take place during Advisory Time and Lunch Time and will provide students with a wide range of opportunities to grow and learn about important career skills. Topics will include resume development, designing a LinkedIn profile, developing communication and soft skills and more. Students will leave these workshops with a tangible deliverable to use in applying for jobs or learning more about their career interests and passions.

One-on-one Mentoring

On Campus Internships

All students can apply for our on-campus internships that take place during the school year. These internships are with select faculty across departments, from athletics to marketing, and are tailored to the interests of the students. Experiences range from project-based internships for a few weeks to year-long experiences, and culminate with a capstone project and DEEDS On Campus Internship Certificate.

Summer Career Experiences and Partner Internships

For current Juniors, off-campus internships and career shadow experiences are available during the month of June. Similar to the on-campus internships, Juniors will complete a capstone project including orientation and workshops to prepare them for their work experience. Opportunities will range from a week-long shadow experience to a month-long internship and are available across multiple fields of interest. In the fall after internship completion, students will present their capstone projects at a night-time event and receive their DEEDS Off-Campus Internship Certificate presented by their partner mentor.

Capstone Project and Certificate

Students who attend all monthly workshops and one-on-one meetings, and complete an exploration capstone project will be eligible to receive their DEEDS Experience Certificate. Capstone projects are tailored to your interests and provide an interdisciplinary approach to merge your experiences in the career workshops, in the field, and in the classroom into a social impact project. The Internship Director will work one-on-one with you in designing your project and assisting in completion.

How To Join

All students will learn about the DEEDS program during August advisory time and are asked to attend a lunchtime meeting on August 20th in Room 26. An application and interview are required to be placed in either internship program. The initial review will take place on September 6th.

Students interested in an on-campus internship later in the year may also apply using the Google Form on the DEEDS Program Schoology Group at a date later than September 6th. Please email Mrs. Lee prior to applying.

Time Commitment

Time commitment is minimal and flexible for the internship programs, but it is of utmost importance that students fulfill their commitment. Attendance is required at all monthly workshops (30-45 minutes each) and one-on-one meetings (15-30 minutes each) which will take place during the school day. Outside of school hours, students should anticipate between 1-2 hours of additional work every month to finish deliverables or work on their capstone project. Internships will range from just a few hours total to 4-8 hours every week depending on the placement.

Mission Statement

The DEEDS Program will provide internships, workshops, events, and other opportunities to Presentation High School students to expose them to a wide range of post-collegiate opportunities while developing the necessary skills and resources to be successful in their future careers.

Students will encounter transformative and empowering real-world experiences focused on hands-on learning and projects centered on faith, justice, compassion and love to challenge students to think broadly about their life goals and how to apply what they learn in the classroom to bring positive change in the world.

The Program will bring together alumnae, parents and others throughout the Presentation Community to build lasting relationships and create impactful experiences for Presentation students and our greater community.
